I came across a couple of photos online you might be interested in seeing. Thurso in April 1978 taken by a visitor from Australia. ROLL AV. Thurso-Helmsdale, 12th-13th April 1978. Plenty of atmosphere. There are also some photos of Kyle and other BR blue action.

Many thanks for the link - some nice shots there and good reference material.

Layout is going ok thanks - I have transferred progress to a separate thread on here as I have decided to enter it into the MRJ Cameo layout competition - no hope of winning but there's nothing like a deadline to work to :eek:

Hope to have it all running by Christmas...or sooner work permitting!

I should have remembered that there was another thread. Deadlines work wonders for me too. I don't think there will be a problem with the quality of your modelling to be in with a chance, although I expect the winner will have at least one curved edge to the baseboards.

As just posted on the MRC layout competition thread I have decided not to pursue this layout any further - many thanks for all your support and comments on this thread to date...as per James Bond...I will return...:D

Hi Steve,

I built all the trackwork but when I came to wire it, the running was just not up to what I was after and I could see little future in pursuing a layout that doesn’t run well...this was even before ballasting!

I also felt it might overpower and dominate Kyle being twice as long so I felt this is best kept as a small standalone layout as it serves to show that you can have a bit of fun in a small space...especially now I have introduced sound to it ;)

New projects are in progress and I still have my 7mm layout awaiting either retirement or failing eyesight, whichever is first :rolleyes:
