The reason for going out to this neck of the woods was to visit Mason City, Iowa. Now I'm sure you all know what it's famous for but first a visit to the Iowa Chicago And Eastern depot to find IC&E SD40-2 6459, 6403 and 6448 having a rest. Also on there was BN SD40-2 7206 looking a bit crispy!

Went to Santa Fe Jct and I see back then we could get on the far side of the tracks, looking at the Live youtube stream you can't do that now.
We got the KCS 2051R+4775 there and FURX SD40-2 and FURX SD40-2 8126 then a pair of UP 6000 HP SD90MAC H 8555+8543 coming of the top deck of the bridge as another train comes underneath.

Yes Steve. Don't know if loco's are available in HO and O ?
These are Baldwin-Westinghouse locos. Various models are available in either scale, either as brass imports or etched metal kits. Now that I think of it, there is at least one company, Apogee Loco Works, that's offering 3d printed kits in HO and S. I've talked to the vendor at a couple of shows about scaling up and offering an O scale version, which he seemed amenable to at the time. I don't think any have ever been offered in mass-produced rtr plastic, but that's not unusual for traction models here.

I have one of the Class B versions preserved up the street from me. It used to run in interurban service from here west toward Indiana. Then it went to the local power plant downtown, and then after that into excursion service. It was eventually donated back to the city here for display.

I've always had an interest in interurban freight operations, and wouldn't mind having a small layout based on same. Maybe I'll get to it after the modern era layout, and then the transition era Central Vermont layout, and everything else on a very long list . That being said, I do have a friend here locally that is a p48 traction modeler, who is also 98 years old. I suspect I will inherit his small traction layout when his time finally comes, and I have a notion to maintain it and finish it out in his honor. He has a very nice brass import of a BW Class B that would look very smart operating on the layout.

Down to Carthage where the MNA has a depot.
RMPX SW1500 2680 busy switching whilst the depot contained some big loco's which I guess they had just dropped on for a rest, UP AC44CW 6610+ CEFX SD45T-2 9391+9375. Just seen that the 2 SP loco's are in fact MNA loco's. Wonder if UP had just delivered them?
