Built in several batches and forms from 1889, and modified over the years right up until the 1960s, Aspinall's L&YR Class 5 was designed to work fairly heavy commuter traffic in and around Manchester. No.10650 was a short bunkered, long smokeboxes, Belpaire boilered and motor fitted example.
Thanks are due to Paul Penn-Sayers, Barry (Metalsmith) and Larry G for their boundless assistance before and during this build. Crew from Modelu, transfers from HMRS, couplings from CPL, number, shed, works and bunker plates from Narrow Planet, coal from a beach on the Isle of Grain, dodgy paintwork and lining from me. Yes, I have noticed the wonky sanding pipe. I've added it to the snagging list to be rectified before this model is shipped off to have some electronics installed.

It just needs some extra work to overcome idiosyncrasies, and to accommodate the full working inside motion which it was never intended to have out of the box. Having chatted with the manufacturer at a couple of exhibitions, he seems keen for me to feed back my thoughts so he can work on improving the kit.)
