Just dropped onto this varied collection of 7mm scale industrial locomotives photographed on a colliery layout - including a nice tribute to the late David Smith.
Thanks for posting. Along with the locomotives I liked the Fordson Major, or was it a Super Major, with the barrel, (full of water or concrete?) being used as a counterweight. Can anyone tell me why the NCB painted a cross on the side of their wagons was it for identification in the marshalling yards?

That's right - and it was a more or less universal thing, not confined to the NCB. That said, not all colliery systems used the X marking, so there was variation.
