As promised, here's my thread      First picture is a couple of 47s (or should I say Brush 4s?      I'll warn you all now, that I really am a VERY slow modeller!!    Graeme

Trackwork planned for this weekend!  The chairs are painted ready and the sleepers are just layed on at present. Once I've glued them down, I'll cut out all the joining sprues. These really are beautiful kits, but I've never built pointwork before and I'm TERRIFIED!!

Specially for you Rob!  A lifetime's work still to do!    I did intend to do one of them as Glory because she was a Bath Road Loco from June 69 to October 71 and she was one of the last one's that I ever saw in service (on Swindon fuelling point at the end of 1975).  However, I've noticed that she carried the remains of the track for a horizontal windscreen wiper mod, which I don't like. Also she was the one tipped on her side for re-railing exercises at Bath Road after withdrawal, which is just too sad!!  So the 2nd box up is going to be Empire now. She was also based at BR from 69 to 71    Graeme

The nameplates for Western Sovereign.    She was delivered on the day that I was born and she'll be the first one that I start!  Based at Bath Road from March 69 to October 71.    Lots to do before that though!  To give a bit of balance, Crusader was a Laira machine at the time.  I think 3rd Carabinier was based at Toton, but I saw her in Bristol lots of times.  I'm a real Hydraulic nut, but I love Peaks!

I know what you mean about the horizontal windscreen wiper, i have nearly finished Buccaneer and then i will start my 4th which will be Hero which also had the track left in situ for the wiper. ( i think i will used plastic u section for that) :scratch:.

if you have any problems with the point shout, dikitriki has been known to build a mean point or two and im sure he could point (!) you in the right direction

Last night's trackwork.    I got so into things that it was 3:30 this morning before I realised what time it was and went to bed!    But the big railway does it's trackwork overnight, so perhaps it added to the realism!

A bit more track layed and the points coming together!      I was a bit concerned by the apparently sharp radius of the curve on the LHS, but it looks tighter in the picture than it really is and it compares to the real one!

Hi CME      The 47'2 are both Heljan.    I've used an MMP bogie kit and a cab interior kit on 1611. The buffer beams have been done with Tower couplings and DJH Brake hoses. I've fitted quite a few scratch built bits on the underframe (piping, tank mountings, fire pull boxes etc) and the pantograph windscreen wipers are from MMP's Loco fittings set. I need to change the wipers though and I've got some Peter Clark ones to use.      The steam boiler exhaust on the roof is made from Evergreen 1/2" plastic tube.      I've got the bits to do the same to 1674 (with the exception of the steam boiler exhaust), although the only thing I've dome to date is numbering (HMRS) and Severnmill nameplates.      Graeme
