1338 update 8

At Crymlyn A Shop the final touches have been added to The Kitson contract loco 1338.

British Railways did not want the Builders plates to be attached and it only remains to apply the BR emblem to the tank sides and the front number plate.

The bell support was modified to a design favoured by Swansea Docks and the bell fitted.

The foreman hopes it will not be a case of "for whom the bell tolls".

Work will now proceed on a contract for Andrew Barclay.

This has been an interesting project but not one I would recommend for a first time build.

Saying that the parts went together very well with only minor adjustments needed here and there.

Great care was needed with constructing the valve gear and some thought required to assemble the model in components which facilitated painting and reassembly of the valve gear.

The model can be dismantled if required but hopefully will not.
