Modelling on a £1200 table.
Hi, I recently purchased a Wilesco D22 on Ebay, this item came from Germany and the item description was in German (which I dont understand) but lots of pictures were included in the item listing so I took a chance, the item arrived after about a week or so, I knew from the pictures It wasn't going to be perfect so I had ordered a few parts prior to to its arrival to bring the model up to scratch these were; new burner, all new fibre washers/seals and a new condensing tray. I gave it a quick steam up as soon as it arrived, it worked ok but had a slight leak on one of the soldered joints underneath this didnt matter as i needed to de-solder this joint to strip it down anyway, as it was my intention to strip the baseplate and repair/replace the corner strenthening brackets also clean bits of rust off and fill bits of "pitting" which were apparent.. All came apart ok, I used nitromors to strip the paint from the baseplate and scrounged some 2" repair washers from work, cut them with dremel to make right angle brackets, drilled them out and used 10BA nuts and bolts to fix them to the baseplate corners... All the spare parts arrived from Germany ok and she's all back together and I steamed her up for 1st time a couple of evenings ok SWMBO not impressed but the neighbours (blokes) think its great and we toasted her with a nice cold glass of cider... Ross....
