You've got to respect the work, time and effort that has been put in, but I agree with David on this one I think.

It's not the size by itself but how you use it that matters 
if he'd wanted a giant trainset then I don't know why he didn't go for 4mm. Would have been a hell of a lot cheaper in the long run. Sorry gents, but whilst I can appreciate the work he's put, the layout itself actually left me, quite frankly, bored stiff and completely dis-interested

I like the Beckonscot Gauge one garden railway its a scale 10 miles. bet its high maintenance though.

It would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing! But me too - firmly in the "quality is better than size camp"! (as the actress said to the bishop...)
Timing is ideal though, for a perfect reminder to apply careful consideration before diving head first into a project that might be too big for my time and money resources.
YouTube is addictive..! At the end of the video, the link to Class 20's on LU metals was really ineresting. Then I watched a class 87 cab ride Euston to Watford, followed by some 1959 diesel train promotional films and how to drive a DMU. Whoops, where's my Sunday afternoon gone?!

Hmm, watched the 87 run and then ended up in Germany with 218s, lost about three hours of the evening!.

It would be great to have something like this as a day out for kids (big and little ones!). You could have a camera in the cab of each loco and drive according to signals, speed restrictions, stop services, etc.
