I have had the same issue on acrylics. Pretty much once they are stuck they are stuck. One of the reasons why I prefer methfix, which at least allow some adjustments as long as you keep them moist.Taking these off a cellulose top coat with out damage is not doable. I had to strip the coach right back and restart the whole finishing process again. Not the best news. I can't comment on enamel or acrylic finishes as I don't use these.

That's what I tried with the cellulose and it took it all off including the primer! I had / have meths on my work top, but didn't think of that. If it works please let us know.Mark,
You could try Micro Sol decal remover solution. Although designed for water slide transfers, I believe, it may work. If not try meth's.
