I guess I was hoping to widen the supplier horizon. I am fairly new to 7mm and am just starting to build up a spares box and knowledge of suppliers.

Rob, Try www.hobbyhorse.co.uk they do a lot of white metal and brass castings, I forgot all about them when I answered your last question.
The Beames 0-8-4 sound interesting, keep us up to date with that one.

Hi Colin,

that slightly off cream colour you have applied to the cab interior, is it an actual colour or have you mixed it yourself. As I have tried to concoct a like colour a few times and never really been happy with the result.

The colour I used was Humbrol gloss no.7 light buff,  once it's applied weather it down with some diluted matt black and it takes on a more realistic look.

Hi Colin, if you have a look at page one onwards on my Worbench thread you will see my first scratch build effort - not quite in the same class as your but from little acorns as they say. I still need to add a few finishing touches and paint it yet off course but I am waiting for better weather.

Fancy something a bit different ?

This is another commission, F/S standards, I have on the bench at the moment, an LSWR 3- car EMU, the pioneer set E1 which was built in the early part of the last century, converted from LSWR carriage stock.
The power cars were converted from 51 ft. BK thirds, while the centre car was a 51 ft. Bi comp.

I am using kits from Southwarkbridge Models and done the same conversion as the prototype. The cab sections were drawn up and etches supplied by a friend of mine.
The power bogie kits are Roxey mouldings.

Yes, they were 3rd rail collection, and in LSWR Sage green livery.

Bit more done, brake shoe's and arms. 48 of the little buggers, 3 pieces to each, 144 parts in all, felt like I've gone cross eyed doing these.

The simple jig helps, just two wires to slide the parts over and a touch of flux and solder.

Centre car and power car trailing bogies begining to come to life.

Thanks for your comments Lads,
I do enjoy weathering loco's and stock, can never get enough colour photo's for reference, especially of the older stuff.
At the risk of boring you all here's a couple of shots of yet another J15 ( built by John Watson ) that I have just finished weathering and a shot of the bogies for the EMU.

BORING  Are you kidding Colin, I could look at shot's like the J15 ones all day everyday  ( in fact sometimes I do  ) I love to study the little details, like the runs from under the wash out plugs and oil staining/grime on the tender axle boxes, the results you acheive are simply second to none. I would like to campaign for an eastside pilot thread on weathering please  . The more pictures the better I say

Yes please - especially how to weather Black engines ... the one I've done was the hardest weathering I've had to do - it was so easy just to end up with a Grey engine ....
