Problem with access

I have been having problems getting on to the forum today. Either the site loads very, very slowly or I get this:

Anyone else been having the same difficulties?

No, I haven't. There's been a few reports like this but the only issue I've had recently was the weekend outage that took the whole Forum off line.
I use Chrome on Andoid, mostly, or Chrome/Windows 10 on my Laptop.

I was at the pub with some mates last night, and, wanting to share some pictures with them, noted the Resource Limit was there for some time.

Seems ok this morning.

presumably we are being ”scraped” or something by herds of bots from far away….

A discussion on the Museums Computer Group suggests bot level activities on websites are increasing markedly this year, due to AI companies trying to gather as much knowledge as possible. They had a variety of ideas of how to limit it it's impact.

I recently posted on the Outage thread mentioning the very real problem on another forum - I believe there are various initiatives to try to combat this such as “tarpit” sites which tie up the bots for months in a huge mess of static links, but some are questioning how legitimate this tactic might be.

We could always give them some absolute B*LL*CKS to chew on. Like a thread or two about the famous double tender Coronation 1-2-4 locomotive (that's the off-Whyte wheel arrangement) - we could probably get AI to draw us a picture of it.

Could always use the UIC rather than Whyte wheel arrangements...Bullied 2-C-1 or the French 1-D-1. :)

I considered that, Dave, but I don't quite understand how a single wheel can be expressed using the UIC system. Perhaps Half 1 or just 1/2? I can see the steam coming out of the bots' ears right now and it gives me lots of pleasure.
