Pendon 2025

Despite being only 90' away I have never been to Pendon - despite the best efforts of many modelling friends....
Today I weakened and popped down for Day 2 of their 2025 opening weekend - the additional attraction of both Nick Wood with Much Murkle and Paul Rhodes and Old Parrock no doubt helped...what a great few hours...lots to see and some friendly conversations.

I made my first visit about 20 years ago. I had no car at the time and took the train to Didcot then a taxi. On the way back, some other visitors to Pendon took me to Culham, where I took a local train to somewhere or other and then back home. I'm a Friend of the museum but I've only managed two more trips since then, I do agree it is awkward to get to.

Many thanks for the photo album links - they do a great job of illustrating the sheer scale of this layout - better than the set of images in the books.
Must get there one day (I always made a point of doing a drive-by on the off chance whenever out that way, but never struck lucky).

The size is staggering and TBH no photos really do it justice.......

The pub just along the road is nice too.

last time we went, we did Didcot on the Saturday, mainly to measure up the match truck, stayed overnight, toured various other railway sites, followed by Pendon & lunch on Sunday. Madame was absolutely delighted by Pendon.

then again, she has history, we met alongside the massive Eurotunnel model at IVA88 in Hamburg.
