If you need any photos of 46010 (the same as a 45 except they have steam heating rather than ETH), I'm a member of the Western Peak Group who are responsible for preserving her....I was also on her Saturday just gone too....cab shots, engine etc and please see the link in my signature :D

Hi Gareth,

Yes mate please. I intend to do a 46 and a 45. The 46 detail pics would be great and any pointers that are significantly different to a 45:thumbs:.

This down at Woodhouse station, Quorn, Great central Railway (S) ?.
Steve
Correct - was there over the weekend so took the opportunity to get down low. Regarding grills etc I didn't bother with them too much as the details are quite evident on the shots I've seen but I took some of the smaller assemblies to show the catch details etc.

Taken Saturday by a fella who came down to visit us.

The only difference between a 46 and 45 are:
  • Class 46 have 1 x sets of batteries - 45 has 2, so 46 runs on 110v and 45s on 220v.
  • Class 46 have Steam Heat, 45s have ETH
  • Both loco types were max 90mph but class 45 were able to run at 100mph+.
  • Class 46s have Brush electrical equipment, Class 45 have Crompton Parkinson electrical equipment.
  • They have the engine as in a Class 47 (12LDA28-B, where a Class 47 is 12LDA28-C).
Externally, the only difference is the steam heat/ETH pipes, the rest is the same.

Fact: 46010 has parts from a Eurostar on her.

I must admit a grubby work stained loco is much better than an ex works one, more character for me

Just to clarify, 45/1 have ETH, 45/0 have steam heat, all Class 46 have the additional bodyside grill, it is random fitted on Class 45, 23 members so far from my records but I haven't updated it recently with recent images collected.

Complete shot in the dark this but...can anybody point me in the direction of a clear shot of the underframe between the bogies prior to fitting the later air cylinders i.e. as built. I ask 'cos one of my 'projects' is to backdate the air fitted Bachmann model. This enquiry come from beyond the back of the class as I'm not really up to speed on this 'modern' stuff...
