NewGOG 2025

As many WTers will know, today was the day for the NewGOG show in Newport. It was an excellent show, so thanks to Fred Lewis and his team of helpers and all of the traders and layout owner/operators who gave us such a good day out.

@Dan Randall and I made the pilgirmage west to see several excellent layouts and very good trade support. It was good to see Iain Young of Sanspareil/CSP Models there with some resin castings of the ex-WR Class 22 and Class 41 Warship from the JLTRT/MM1 range, all which he has now taken over. These will be the first re-introductions from the range followed by the Class 44, ex-LMS 10000/1 etc. i.e. those not likely to be messed up made by Heljan.

If you're in range of Newport next time, it's a good day out!

Being in Llanelli one would think that it would be do-able to attend. Sadly the terrible early finishing of public transport in Carmarthenshire away from Swansea makes it impossible to make it there and back in a day :(

Hi Dave,

An untouched MM1 Class 22 complete with wheels and a Slater motor/gearbox went or £770 last weekend on the Bay of E - so there is a ready and willing market out there waiting for the re-introduction.

regards

I saw that. Eye-watering! Technically it was only c£740. The rest was the new eBay so-called ‘buyer protection’ surcharge. Iain is planning to do all 7 cab variants. No indication on prices yet.

Yes NEWGOG was an excellent show again. Congratulations to Fred Lewis. I had a chat with Ian Young of CSP about the future of the ex Trevor Cousins Mercian range that he has acquired and also saw the class 22 mouldings on his stand.

Really good show, not an average layout to be seen! Spent quite a long time chatting to Ian Young (mostly about motor bikes  ) but really good news re class 22.

At the moment, despite having well regarded versions in 2mm & 4mm, a 7mm D63xx/Class 22 is unlikely to be made by Dapol, either.
But I bet if I shelled out for a new kit, they'd announce it the next day.... :))

Of course just announcing a model is easy - in Dapol's case, add several years on top until it's actually available.

Trainline would suggest otherwise. The last train on a Saturday from Newport to Llanelli leaves 5 hours after the show closes (21:32) arriving at Llanelli 23:19. The round trip would cost about £22 at civilised travelling times. Too late now for this year, of course.

Unfortunately the last bus from the Llanelli station to my village is at 16:15 :(
