Low melt solder

Can anyone tell me the composition of low melt, 70 degree solder? Is it Cerrobend which I know is 50% Bismuth, 27% Lead, 13% Tin and 10% Cadmium?

Ask the supplier for an MSDS, it’ll say what’s in it, but may not give percentages.

i don’t think it is Cerrobend.

Thank you.

I have found this: www.easycomposites.co.uk/LM95-low-melt-metal-alloy which has a melting point of 95C, no Cadmium, so I wonder if this would work in the same way as 100C solder? Although a higher MP, it would be a safer solder than the 70C stuff. It contains lead but lead does not vapourise until nearer 500C.

(I haven't found how to do the degree superscript.)

There are quite a few low melt solders these days. Carrs can only be used on Whitemetal unless you tin, conversely their 100C version doesn't like contact with ordinary solder, there is also a lower melting point lead free paste as well (from Amazon).
