That is an interesting chuck/collet being used to hold the Heljan wheels whilst they are being re-profiled.

Most if not all miniature lathes have (or used to have) a full set of collets with which to hold the workpiece, and are much more accurate than a 3-jaw chuck for small stuff.

This Pultra has a wide selection of collets to hold all manner of items. The 3-jaw chuck has reverse-able jaws and can hold items nearly 3 inches in diameter if required.
