Bescot Sunday Engineering Only pool Class 31 31119 arrives on site at 0605, dragged it train of loaded Dogfish to the work site but was then failed due to no cab heating by the Newport driver! The Bescot man did leave a new black bin bag but the Newport man refused to man the loco with temperatures outside hovering around 5C.

A plan as to how to unload the wagons hasn’t been worked out yet, but traincrew resources are looking at replacing the 31 with a local loco to push the job forward.

The first train Monday is booked through just after 0700 so a overrun must be avoided if the supply of coal to Llanwern isn’t to be disrupted.

60029 standing at the possession protection, detached from the Bescot 31 ready for another driver to return it back to Barry.

The 37 stands on the Down line ready to also leave back to East Usk until the train continues to Crewe tomorrow.

The Courtybella Road signaller isn’t happy at all, with three locos ticking over outside the box, he was sold the turn on the understanding it would be a quiet day !

The possession was handed back early this morning ahead of time as well, back slaps all round from the office dwellers.

However……before the first train arrived multiple track circuits failed. S&T where already engaged with an issue on the mainline, so temporary block working was introduced in order to keep the critical coal services moving.

Canton coal allocated 37 passes slowly through the TBW area with all signals ON.
