Heather Kay
Western Thunderer
It's been a while since I had a finished commission to show off. Looking back, it seems the last completed builds were in the summer of 2016. It seems so long ago.
Anyway, here's 10001, as built and entering service on British Railways metals in the middle of 1948.
The first two images, for those interested, were created using stacked focus as described in the thread on model photography. This time, I used a higher ƒ-stop and more images to create the depth of field. My least favourite pastime then ensued of post-processing the resulting stack to lose the lightbox. More time spent ironing the backdrop, I think, would pay off next time.
I still have another 10001 (!) to complete, which will represent the loco as it appeared in about 1953 or so, while it was running on the Southern Region.
