Whilst trying to settle a discussion about the origin of words ending in -ize I stumbled across the following website.

www.metadyne.co.uk/Research.htm

Which has published a rather eclectic look at the minutae of London, many being related to the London Underground.

I rather liked the phrase in the article about numbering LU Platforms,
The obscure subject of platform numbering should not detain anybody for very long.

Or what about a photographic record of parish boundary markers in London? Or a detailed study of the Automatic Junction Working on the London Underground?

Hopefully it maybe of interest to some.

p.s. It's not an Americanism

Or the info that Aldgate's 1st signal Box had 55 levers (49 working, 3 spare, 3 spaces) in 1907...Aldgate being the basis for the far future segment of BF that will be the Metropolitan station.

Fascinating site, thanks.
