lets hope that they get the width of the fuel tanks right with this model, they seem to get it wrong every time. It does look good though.

cheers

I'm really looking forward to this one, in fact for the first time I've pre-ordered mine from Tower. There are plenty of detail differences to model on a 31, for example I don't really remember them with bodyside steps, so they will be the first to go. Hopefully Brian at Shawplan will oblige with some useful bits! :)

The pics seem to show an 'xo' example....

I think Heljan have known green's best use for a long time................. isn't it green moulding then grey primer followed by a top coat of blue :)););):)
Green is fine, once the yellow has been removed.

Edit: having looked at the pix, I have to say that it is screaming out for laser cut glazing, rather than prismatic mouldings.

I think both Cynric & Shawplan are planning laser cut glazing for 7mm Heljan .........I did it the hard way on D7013 so lazer cut would be a welcome option:)

Yes I must concur with previous statements Green is a very good rust protector then undercoat the a good BLUE coat and then a liberal coating of grime then all you need for realism is a real working engine  (such as a class 40 or some other class capable of pulling the skin off a rice pudding) rescuing it as its burst pulling a wagon by itself :p:p:)):))

Long-term it'll be two for me. One freight machine (31/1) in blue and the other a 31/4 in regional railways livery :)

Thats my long term aim too, although both will be blue WR examples, and the 31/4 may even have a nice OC white stripe

I did note the 'prismatic' glazing also- but can't remember if it's all that bad on other HJ locos..?? I'll join the queue for some laser glazing if needs must (better stop making jokes about The Guv's Lightsabre, then..... oops... :D )

Yes they all do, more noticeable in some classes than others..........but easily sorted with laser cut gazing when it becomes available.
