I would like to congratulate Mudmagnet models for brilliant service. I ordered some bits and bobs for the layout on Sunday, they arrived today. Superb.

Fair do's, the Settrack points look very effective. Must admit I thought 'sod that' when I saw your picture entitled "started wiring". :D

Today I have been doing the backscene. As with Blackney I used the material that is used in those pop up displays that many traders use at exhibitions.

1. after priming the white side with white rattlecan primer it was loosely washed over with a light blue arcylic.

2. when dry white primer was sprayed on where I wanted clouds.

3. the some of those areas was sprayed with grey primer.

4. when all was dry went over the darker areas ith white primer again to blend it all in.

Not too bothered about the bottom as that will be covered by a painted landscape and also the modelled landscape.

First of the green stuff stuck. I have always used hanging basket liner as a base coat. In this case it was brown so it was trimmed with my old beard clippers and the airbrushed with a weak sloution of Tamya Flat Green.

More work has been done this week. Basic backscene has been painted. For the @elf and safety amongst us a rail has been added to the steps and supporing walls have been made and painted stuck down.

Next to do is paint closer and more detailed trees on the backscene and then I can get to work on the 3D scenery.

There will be a pause in the building of Forest Mills whilst I re-arrange the model railway room to make it a more comfortable and roomier place to work.

The reason for the re-arrangement.

Progress so far. Layout moved temporalily to another room and upper shelves cleared

The idea is to cut the bookcase down to the red marks and put the layout on top of it. Which I hope will leave room above for some shelves and obviously still have shelves above on the tracks you can see screwed to the wall. Luckily I have two more tracks in the garage and 4 of the support angles. All this will mean the layout will be against the wall giving the gap between the layouts ie down the middle another 15 inches. I should have done all this before I started building Forest Mills. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
