I suppose asking questions about the southern on WT is grounds for banishment to the ‘Naughty Step’ so here goes…..

Did the Southern ever run on the line to Chard and beyond from the WoE mainline at Chard Junction, conversely was the line ever used as a diversion link for either WoE or GWR Taunton route?

Yesterday Network Rail closed a line when the rail temperature hit 62°C. Whether this is a standard cut-off point, or merely a pragmatic decision related to one particular route, I don't know. Also, I'm too hot/tired to bother to convert that figure to Fahrenheit for our old fashioned cousins...
