And I'll be there demonstrating on stand A10 with my colleagues from Scottish Region Study Group. Without large bits of Princes St this year

Thanks for bringing it north. Very interesting and one of the highlights of the show, for me.
Thanks for the feedback. Reeth has been a long time coming and I glad people enjoyed it. It was my first proper exhibition experience with a layout I built (with some great help from friends and family), so there was lots of learning. We managed to drop off at the club at 22:30 so not too late of a night either.

There is a story here, ready to be told... so, come on Simon we are all waiting.

Is this accident anything to do with the loop turnout missing a crossing vee?

regards, Graham
Graham,

There is always a story... and this one is about lack of planning, and working right up to the deadline...

The short version is, I thought that a luton van would have enough space to put all the boards flat on the floor, but no this was not the case, so we badly packed the van and one board moved, droppig on another board. The signal box was squashed, and there was a bend common crossing. Luckily I did take the last pice of rail I had (about 300mm) which I used to run through the point, therefore removing the passing loop.

On the way back we screwed some piece of wood to the end of a couple of pairs of boards to box them, and this made sure there was space, and protected layout.

All in all the weekend raised some issues on the layout, some were fixed (some electrics and the signal box), some bodged (see above), and others were too big to solve, but will be over the coming couple of months.

We therefore ran trains and I hope, made the viewing experience enjoyable. We tried to keep stuff moving as that's what people (I certainly do) want to see adding variety so for the 5 minutes-ish someone is watching they never saw the same move twice.

Now I need to finish some more rolling stock, including the locos I have...

All in all it was a fun 4 days away.
