The hobby is thriving. Sadly, everyone is jumping on the coat tails of an ill informed intial feature. Goid to see the Beeb being positive.

The one thing that really is in decline is journalism. In fact with the passing of John Pilger I would suggest the last journalist has gone. I know from experience how much effort is involved in organising an exhibition and I am amazed that 1) Warley lasted as long as it did and 2) it was allowed to grow to the size it has been recently without some form of continuity planning. It may of course be that people don't join the Warley club because they think they will spend all of their free time organising an exhibition.

As for Hattons, it seems to be getting overlooked that they were not just a retailer and over the last couple of years have, as a manufacturer, brought to the market place two disastrous ranges of high value O gauge models, that they effectively had to give away. That must have had a significant impact on them.
