Family less one

We lost Izzie earlier this year

but, having another hound in the family (Ella) who was pining for her lost soul mate as much as we were, the inevitable happened:-

Along came Archie.

So the cycle of joy and pain continues......

I still don't know why we do it but I'm glad we do.

I'm really sorry for you loss, and to the others on this thread that have also recently lost loved ones.

We lost Pepper around a year ago. I hope you'll indulge me with a couple of photographs from either end of his life:

Once life settles down a bit, I'm hoping to get another - although he or she will never replace Pepper.

We are a cat family. We started homing rescue cats about 20 years ago. We specialised in the slightly damaged ones that normal folk didn’t want. For some reason, kittens are much more popular than middle-aged diabetic or one-eyed moggies.

We’ve given a happy home to five cats now. Each one has carved a little niche in our hearts where we remember them fondly.

This is our latest fluff monster:

Within a couple of hours of bringing him home from Cats Protection, Billy had made himself right at home. He's eight years old, full of life and fun - and fluff! - and we hope he’ll make it to a ripe old age before we have to say goodbye. He's a true member of our family, and like his predecessors, we will miss him terribly when his time comes.

We have always over-lapped with two. Old dog teaches the pup the way to behave. It's always a sad day when the old one goes but we try to remember the good and funny bits, love the newly promoted one and after a suitable time look for the new pup or rescue.
For some strange reason the latest pup came as brother and sister so we have three dogs and an ancient rescue cat.

So sorry to hear of your loss Phil, it is never easy saying goodbye to our treasured pets. We lost our mischievous Jack Russell 'Patch', but he is still very much in our thoughts. We plan on visiting the local dogs home to give another deserving pooch a forever home in the near future.

Sincere condolences, Phil. You're so right; little darlings do get right under your skin (And your feet in our house!!)
