I'll allow myself a rare plug for a new (related) book which has just arrived today, "Caersws The Cambrian Railways Village" from Oakwood Press, 224 pages, £16.95 and utterly brilliant.

Lots of detailed information as per the title and the Cambrian Railways network in the region over the years, including a vat amount of information and photography of the bridge department (based at Caersws) and its work and a lot of information on the nearby once important Moat Lane. Great personal memories and touches, well illustrated and well written. The author says it has been a "privilege and a joy" to research and gather the information and his feeling for history, the railway and the people who lived and worked around it comes across very strongly in the text.

A really unusual and unusually good railway book and I hope it does really well for the author and his publishers - it truly deserves to!
