You are never too old!

Today my wife and I visited an old friend who recently moved into a care home in Oxfordshire. I won't use her real name, but let me just say that "Jane", who is in her late 90s, has had eye surgery recently and is recovering well in a brand new facility that really is state of the art in "retirement homes".

"Jane" comes from a famous family of motor cycle manufacturers in the Midlands and accompanied her father on many sales trips here and overseas. She is as bright as a button and we spent three hours talking about all things under the sun, including politics of the day, changing mores, motor cycles, classic cars, photos of her father with Midland celebrities (Chamberlain, Earl of Dudley, etc.) while head of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, and Gauge O model railways. No matter the subject she was interested and was fascinated when I showed her photos from Western Thunder's pages.

We came away much relieved at her state of well being and that her family is helping to take care of her, as she has of them over the decades.

An afternoon well spent!

Paul
