Soddingham-Under-Piddle?

I remember reading a long time ago about a chap building a small layout with the above name. It sounded interesting, along with the kits he was building to go with it – including an MMP 08, which was the reason I was trying to find it again, as well as a 43to1 BR brakevan.

A search has turned up his blog but it looks like it hasn't been updated for a while so I was wondering what had happened to him, the layout and the stock. Anyone know?

As for the Soddingham Blog, is it me, or is the most relevant information missing? The bit we always want to know about a layout - I haven't found a trackplan..??
Nope, not you. I read through all of the sections and I could not find anything to identify the author.

His first name is Richard and he posts/posted on the Templot Club forum as BeamEnds. A search there on 'Soddingham' will take you to posts containing .box files which are Templot format track plans.

Yes, should have said that – the trackplan is on the Templot site. Quite a spaghetti junction, if it ever got built.

He has a really interesting build of the 08 on his site. Is this an earlier version? For some reason I thought the whole bonnet was resin on MMP kits, or maybe I'm thinking of another manufacturer?

I've relieved a GOG member of his MMP kit and I'm shortly to welcome it into the household.

It was - the current version only has a resin top. As an aside, the older version was for the type built with pressed rather than riveted doors, IIRC.
