Western Region O, OO and N Gauge Modelling

I made a start on my construction of a two section O gauge 10ft x 15" mini layout . I decided to have a go at making a sector plate (my very first attempt) this section of board is 4ft long with the rest of the layout on a 6 ft board . Now comes the fun of wiring it up . I was planning on using three switches located at the pivot end of the sector plate .
Any ideas on wiring most welcome.

Hi westernfan,

I just spend an enjoyable hour reading through your thread... excellent modelling all round! :)

I particularly like the later n gauge work and, as someone else said above, each version of the end to end layout is an improvement on the last. If you don't mind, can I ask the dimensions of the mk4 terminus?

Many thanks and keep the updates coming.

I used brass tube soldered to the outside of each rail & brass rod as a bolt, no wires what so ever & worked fine......if you look through my old layout thread it's in there somewhere
Thanks for that Phill .

Hi David thanks for your kind comments re my mk4 terminus ,it measured 6ft long by 11ins wide

I have laid some track on the o gauge layout . the plan allows for a loco to run round its train using the sector plate and also allow space for a rail bus or auto train to run

After looking at Phill's sector plate thread ,which I had totally forgotten about  I bought some brass rod and tube and got the soldering iron out ,the result was successful  . Work has also started on a small bridge over a canal /stream scene for the layout

The bridge is now in place and I have made a start on building the platform ,its taken six sheets of various plasticard to construct so far , what a contrast to my recent n gauge muddling . With the track work wired up I have been able to play trains and I am quite happy with the possible train movements on the layout.

These overbridges are becoming quite a "signature" of your work! Very effective they are, too.

Thanks for the compliment ,yes they are a good focal point and hopefully help make the layout a little more realistic for not much effort . As space on this project is limited ,I chose a small stream crossing as it wouldn't overpower other scenics that I have in mind . The platform looks about the right height against the Hymek and cct in the image below .P1060869(1).JPG

Thanks for the reply, it really shows what you can do in n gauge in a relatively small space. Shows the benefit of the scale to the max! Is there a fiddle yard to then add on to that?
Cheers again,
David

The fiddle yard is hidden behind the back scene of the factory, it can be seen at the top of post 138 in this thread.

Here are some images of my work in progress on the O gauge shunty plank , including my latest effort of making a small signal box ,its a bit freelance but I think it looks about right .P1060989(1).JPG P1060993(1).JPG P1060991(1).JPG

Ah, I'm too late with a name suggestion I see
I'd have called it "Futers Street". I can see a lot of Ian Futers' style (quite probably totally accidentally) there, such as the 3-point track plan, & the general backscene and overbridge arrangements. I hope that sounds as complimentary as I mean it!
Superb work & progress - in the time you've done this, I've managed to lay a few more feet of track... (although that is hand laying, 1 spike at a time... ;) )

Hi Jordan . Thanks for the compliments. I hadn't heard of Ian Futers before so I googled his name and checked out his great work  . The layout just evolved . It goes to show what can be done in a limited space thanks to my mk1 three road sector plate :))
