P1010039.JPG Hi to all fellow members and thanks to Ross for letting me know about western thunder I have just joined this site and found some great stuff on here very impresive work . I must admit I do like the western regions diesel hydraulic locos .I was very lucky as a lad to have the chance to drive an nbl baby warship pulling clay wagons and milk tankers on the Barnstaple to Meeth line back in 1971.after the milk tankers were dropped off at Torrington I was allowed to ride in the cab and have a go :D , oh happy days so when I recently decided to build a branchline o gauge layout one of the first locos on my list was a class 22 . In the image below is a Heljan Hymek and a Steve Beattie resin kit built class 22 D6331 once agian great site Chris westernfan

thanks to you all for your replies to my post,re health and safety issues on driving a class 22 there wasnt a single hi viz vest to be seen amongst our school party that travelled on the morning frieght a second gaurds van was coupled to the train for us to ride in although the line was controlled by the western region it was part of the southerns withered arm, a coach from the ace went as far as torrington, the line from torrington to halwill junction was built in 1925 there is a branch line video " memories of the Barnstaple-Torrington-Halwill Junction lines " which has footage of numerous nbl class 22s at work and a couple of dmus and a class 121, which leads me to my next attached image, my recently completed bachmann brass bubble car although the label on the box states its a 122 isnt it a 121 ? i have fitted bi directional leds to each end and scratch built a drivers cab with controls at each end from bits of styrene sheet ,for the hand brake wheel i used a oo gauge plastic wagon wheel which i trimmed down to suit i still have to put passenger seating in and line the body. my next project is to scratch build an AC cars 4 wheel rail bus so far i have acquired a skinley scale drawing and some etched brass window frames and some 1.5mm styrene sheets to get the project on the go :D

I do like the railbus idea  im not sure I would trust a skinley drawing though, it might be an idea to check some other sources before starting. how big is the layout?

The layout is a l shaped terminus to cassette setup 14ft x7ft there are two stations a goods yard and engine shed it has been designed with the view of extending it to 20ft x 12ft once a new summer house has been built to accomodate it , but that is some way off for now re the skinley plans do you know of other sources

Im afraid I dont know of any other sources  I have been looking for info on the 117s and I have run into the same problem. Its just that skinley are not always that accurate, and i would hate to go to the effort of scratchbuilding and then find something was incorrect.

There was a part built brass model of an A C Cars 4 wheeled rail bus on ebay recently ,the kit was made by ccw . it sold for ?260. i have searched the web for the kit but so far no luck, youd think that someone would produce a railbus in 7mm as it would be popular with modellers with restricted space layouts.

Now you mention it I do vaguely remember a kit, I will have a look in some old GOG gazettes.

Yes, what were they loading on it..?? :p

Only kidding... it does look a good layout; the "across the tracks" shots make it look much more spacious than it actually is!
