So what is happening in Basilica Fields?

Weather still not pleasant today so an ideal opportunity to complete a second track panel with the oak keys coloured to represent a dirty and dusty state... hopefully meeting the critical eye of Phil Eakins.  Photos of the second batch of chairs and the re-modelled track are now available in the BF journal, see link in post of 18th May.

Hmmmm .. We shall see............ Don't put that paint brush down just yet.

PS Windy and wet here, but I was at at work and couldn't avoid it.

What do you want to see?  the photos of track with silver-grey keys? with dusty and dirty brown keys? or the beauty of WR diseasel depots where everything is covered in thick, black, grunge?

BTW - please remember that the track is being produced not too far from the A303 and will be aged to suit at a location which is north of the M25.  Or put another way, Adrian is about to receive some of the pre-production track for trying out some of the "weathered" techniques  .

Unfair sir - I know of nothing younger than 1918 (and SECR at that) so I am not aware of this 'WR diesel' you refer to.  Please explain?  :)

I think a starter of silvery weathered  oak plus a large dollop of brake do-do's will probably suffice.  What about newly keyed/relayed track panels though?  It would add some different interest.

Quite what Ade does I don't know. Until someone comes up with a colour photo of the area  in question, it's all conjecture.  :))

You see, you have been affected by the diseasel as well...  makes everything appear BLUE  and gets into the nicest of posts without warning ;D .

The scope for adding interest through the appearance of the track is enormous given that Basilica Fields is to have track from at least three pre-group companies and one of those companies is likely to be represented by track practice from several eras.  I agree with your point about introducing some "new" keys for spot re-sleepering or to replace keys which will no longer stay tight.  Indeed, only today did I send a photo to Adrian in which adjacent track panels were showing the latest fashions in "new-oak" and "dirty / dusty / drab" keys...  so you can be sure that there will be plenty of variation in the key colouring once we get down to laying the Met. Rly. track.

Oh lord! .. You've done it now, you've mentioned blue and diesels in the same sentence, and out loud
On your own head be-it.  I take no responsibility.
