Thanks Peter.

Sadly no, nowhere to put the speaker.

Saying that the ends of the superheater elements will cut down the space a little.

Sadly no, nowhere to put the speaker.

I would be inclined to make the boiler tubes 10 to 15 mm long to give the impression they are there, which in turn will free up the remainder of the boiler to install a speaker. Unless you plan to have the boiler tubes full length and be able to see down them to the motor!

The decoder etc can occupy the tender.

Schrödinger's cat modelling society? If the smokebox doors stays closed are the tubes there or not there?

Nice idea, never gonna happen..! :))

Honestly if you looked inside any of the engines that have detailed smokeboxes you'd never notice them 'not' being there..

And this is the final artwork...

Not sure why the image export has swapped the black and white around, but red is half etch front and blue half etch rear.

I always send my drawings converted to black and white, front and back, and as eps files.
It allows me to thoroughly check all will come out as expected.
Doesn't stop mistakes tho' always mine never theirs.

Thanks Nick,

It was suggested by a couple of friends that I provide the black/white.

My reasoning for not was, for the sake of not a huge amount of money, it's one less cockup that 'I' can make..

PPD won't come back to me until Monday now, so hopefully new etch middle of the week?

So frustrating, could have had the chassis built by now.

Thanks Dave, could well be handy for the tender now.

Drawing is possible next project. May require finding some further drawings though.

Well the long and short of it is that etchers have done me a good deal. Given me the scrap etch gratis, as I thought they would and have said they can either send me a new correct sheet, or will do me a deal for the artwork they will need to do on any modifications that need doing at my end, so I have started a mk 0.5 scrap etch test build of the chassis. I can't go too far with it as a lot of the parts are scrap, including annoyingly the full length footplate which is where any doubt currently lies.

However, if things keep fitting together like this, I'll be a very happy chappy... Fingers, toes and any other appendages crossed!

Particularly happy with the drag box and motion bracket.

Doesn't look much like a 4-4-0 at the moment but will come together in time.

Thanks Col.

See the holes in the motion plate angle? They should be a rear half etch so that the rivets can be punched out.

10 points !

Ooh... Nice... Very nice.
I know it’s heathen of me to even ask here, and I apologise for my temerity (not to mention my muscling in..) but would it scale down to 4mm? It would save me trying to find a window to reacquaint myself with the calumny I am creating with TinkerCad...

Cheers
