7mm Ressaldar's Workshop - a paintshop diversion

Hi all,

just received this today - the 2 rail versions had sold out, but Scale Link (they are at Bristol this weekend) bought up the remaining two rail bogies from the factory in China to convert the three rail/course scale versions. Those that know these vehicles have checked the models against the 12":ft version and most seems to be where it should be - the only thing that might need replacing is the glazing - but @ £143 including the replacement bogies, couplings and courier delivery - and there are light s fitted as well - ain't all bad news.

I think that the only work I'll be doing is some weathering.

Oh I see:oops:.......I hope they produce more & perhaps some other prototypes

Is this the same company that were going to do a RTR Duchess, some MK1's & Bullied coaches ?

Cheers Phill :)

My local model shop prop was showing me the MTH catalogue a short while ago, they look very good for the money (and certainly better than Heljan Mk1s). AFAIK they dont do a brake end though?

That looks super Mike.
Simon Varnham had a Sidelines kit of one of these on ebay last week that I was tempted with but managed to restrain myself:rolleyes:

just to complete the picture as it were, here are a couple of shots of the ends, now that I've fitted the larger, sprung buffers - the corridor connection is a soft rubber, so that when in a rake, they touch and move on and with the curves.

Hi,

I've made a tentative start to the work in the BG, by removing some sections of the footboards - the only alterations that I need to make, apart from fixing on some battery boxes and replacing the distribution box, that and applying a lot of dirt!

I am using an end milling bit in the mini-drill's flexible drive shaft, set at it's slowest speed, and taking the footboard down slowly, using the painted surface as my guide. I have erred in some places, but these blemishes will hopefully be disguised by the weathering later - it's all down to wear and tear as well!

Watching with interest Mike:).....the milling bit seems to have worked fine:thumbs:. Could you possibly post a pic of the milling bit ? (I need to do this mod myself )

Cheers Phill

Hi Phill,

bored with the footie, so I nipped out into the workshop - only have a standard Canon 18-55 lens on the camera, no macro, so cruel blow-ups:

I think that they came with a Proxxon mini drill that I bought around 2000/1 - I think that the end is about 2.5mm diameter. They were available in a set of three - all different heads - you could try Axminster Tools, they are Proxxon stockists.

cheers Ross, hope to do a bit more 'whitling' later today - when I get fed up doing the backscene on the layout.

some more progress - the remaining lengths of footboard have been removed, acrylic paint applied to the bared areas and some diluted canopy glue liberally applied to all frame areas that would have been well 'grimed' then talc thrown all over, which was then lightly brushed off of the roof and sides, but the frames and ends have been left to dry off, with the talc applied - more coats may be applied to certain areas, we'll see.

if this method of 'dirt build-up' works, then I shall do the same on the Lionheart Pannier.
