Hi All

Thought i would put up a plan of my project, GW/early BR.  3 boards 1300mm x 630mm, made from 9mm birch ply 125mm deep. Using C&L timber tracks, love the feel of ply sleepers, feels right that a wooden sleeper, should be made of wood, if that makes sense!. Using DCC, and crossings will be thrown by tortoise point motors. The whole thing has been built with portability in mind, mainly as i will be moving within the next 12 month, and maybe in the far distant furture exhibitions. Look forward to any coments/help..

Hi Bobslob,

interesting layout there, lots of potential. I have just built my four baseboards - 1200x600x109 deep, from 9mm birch ply, so we are going along similar lines so to speak. i have also added (screwed on) backscene boards 300 deep - giving just under 200 above the baseboard.

Hi Ressaldar

Great minds and all that,  ;D.        I what to make the whole thing at easy to move as possible, the backscene is going to be removeable, it will be one of the last things added, but its going to be attached with dowels and a couple of bolts, i am even going to try and make most buildings etc modular, so they can be removed during transit, and also can be worked on away from the layout.

Welcome to Western Thunder Bob.  It's good to see another GWR/WR modeller on here and I'm looking forward to seeing some more layout & workbench progress in due course.  8)

Welcome to the Forum, but you're going to have to put those sizes into Old Money for some of us... ??? :-[ :-[
