Peter,
You’re in Leeds aren’t you?
Your quite welcome to pop round (Ossett) and I will go through spraying with you. If you bring the Duchess you can do it here. I have loads of paint ;)
Warren

Hi Warren,
That's brilliant, many thanks.

I'll give you a shout after Christmas and arrange something.

Here's some shots of where I'm at with the L1. Not up to your standards of course.

I'm in the process of doing the brush work and further coats will be applied where needed.

All the brass parts are painted with Liquid Leaf Brass, which I'm pretty sure I saw in the background in one of your photos on here or on your RMweb thread. After that I found it on eBay. For the copper piping I use Revel but I believe Liquid Leaf may also be available in Copper. I'll brush on a black wash later to tone it down. The back plate unscrew and can be taken out to give the cream another coat.

The frames are just done with Closterman
black etch primer.

The buffer beam needs another coat.

Cheers,
Peter

The underside of the boiler was painted yellow on these hence the Knick name ‘yellow bellies’.
This was an old kit built loco with a very crude paint job. It’s had a full strip and repaint.
Looks like I’ve managed to get the tender suspension stuck in the photo:mad:

Lovely job! Was the yellow underboiler there to try and reflect as much light to see better in the gloom or is there an actual explanation somewhere?
Cheers

What a beautiful engine. It would be nice if someone made one in G3.
Jon,
There is one in G3, live steam.
I have only seen pictures of it (might have been in a G3 Newsletter). I don't believe it is anything like as 'finescale' as this example, and the paintwork certainly was not to this standard.

Yes, that's the one. It is a very old model and lives in East Anglia. Old, but lovely and runs very well too.

However, we had probably not hijack Warren's thread any longer!

I've used the O gauge on line water based stuff for a few years. Works fine, and much less noxious than phosphoric acid..for sensitive noses...

Evening folks,

Apologies for a slight sidetrack but, like myself, I note that a number of folk posting in this thread use the water based safety flux made by O Gauge OnLine.

My bottle was running low so I placed an order via their website. Nothing received 3 and a bit weeks later and the contacts tab on their website is dead. Does anyone know if this flux is still available?

Thanks folks. Does anyone have a contact for them please so I can chase up my order?

The contacts tab on the website returns the following error:
