Hi , Just seen this and as Grahame says ! Hope you find time to read some of the books we all seem to acquire, while sun out it is perhaps part of a modellers rainy day scenario at this time.

Thank you all, again! A mixture of sitting and standing seems to work at the moment.

I did some metal bending. The bunker rear plate was annealed what seems like months ago and conformed nicely. The side etches have to have the front of the tanks formed by bending, and that worked remarkably well. I think I will fit the support cages to the running plate tomorrow, and then sort out the overlays. There’ll be a fair amount of fettling required for the bunker, but I have a nice clear photo of a preserved loco's rump to work with.

I noticed the cab front plate on some locos, originally built with the circular spectacles above the firebox crown, shows where the holes were filled. I need to check whether the chosen loco for this build showed such a feature, or whether it was built with just the side spectacles from new. Photo picking is something I can do in relative comfort! ;)

Hi Heather , I had a friend who has since passed away but he couldn't model sitting down . He for the most part scratch built everything in his workshop and reckoned he would waste too much time getting up and down to go from his bench to the lathe or the drill or the vice so remained standing .
Cheers Paul

I managed to get the support cages fitted. I also made up the little doodad that let the top lamp sit on top of the bunker and not be destroyed by coal being dropped on it.

I think I need to fit the cab floor and some other bits before I get too carried away.

A bit late to the party again, get well soon and I hope you don't have to wait to long for a hospital appointment. Glad to see you back modelling.

what do you want to compare?

Hmm, I'm not sure that would be good idea. :))

Nothing to report from the bench. Mrs Mojo wandered off yesterday, but I think I can hear her in the other room. I’ll try and entice her back for this afternoon.

Oh, hello. Still here? ;)

What with one thing and another, I’m afraid I’ve not done much of late. I occasionally wandered to the bench, picked something up, maybe worked at some cusp filing, occasionally checked the fit, but soon got bored/annoyed/insert gripe here. Anyway, I decided I really needed to get a grip, so I finally switched on the iron and fitted the side overlays.

There may be further progress soon. Perhaps.

Ha! A month or more later. Yeah, well, what can you do?

I had intended to work out and install electrical pickup. Instead, I decided to fettle and fit the cast motion brackets, and make sure the crossheads were a smooth sliding fit. After that, I had promised to dunk the whole thing in the ultrasonic bath to clean out the various cavities of flux residue and associated grot. Two ten minute sessions saw most of the things acceptably clean, so they been placed in the airing cupboard to dry off before further work takes place.

Well, it’s actually progress. Perhaps I can keep the momentum now and get this loco advanced further.

April came and went - I hope you are well on the mend Heather.

April? I’m still in March. Three months of Sundays. Even my calendar has lost track!

I’m in a kind of stasis, medically. I don’t think I’ve been forgotten, because there are other things going on that are more important, but I’d like to have my life back to more or less normal again. I’m coping with the plumbing, but I really don’t think it’s needed any more. I can’t just unplug from it, though. It needs professional intervention. I’ll be trying to get things sorted out tomorrow, I hope.
