Hi John
It's nice to see another style of figure painting and I hope you don't mind a few questions.....
I note in the your other thread you use Army Painter Soft Tone for shading. Are these available in various shades? If so do you use different shade for say skin and for clothing?
Have you found, as in wargaming, there are varying qualities of figures?
I've been using Vallejo acrylics but I may search out a few of the others as seen in your threads to try these. One varnish I do use though is AK Interactive Ultra Matte Varnish.
Ask as many as you like Dave.
Army Painter Tones are available in Soft Tone, Strong Tone and Dark Tone and other colours too. Citadel do a larger range of 'colour' tones but they do act slightly differently to the Army painter ones. I will post a photo of all the ones I have so you can see, there are more though.
I use Citadel Reikland Flesh Shade for skin but of you want a darker '5 O'clock shadow' effect you can use Citadel Agrax Earth Shade or Army Painter Soft Tone.
Regarding figure quality, yes for sure, massive variations! There are some truly stunning figures available but also some that are not so good.
John
