. Possibly, and when I go to "The Hut" tonight it will be suggested I pick up my tools and get on with it.

Sounds a cracking idea to me. This, you letting us know all we would need for the layout signalling (or possibly ex signalling) wise etc and us telling you to get on with it.......;)

Further to Riper's comments I am now preparing for "Surgery", it will be a slightly different project, and if nothing else it will inspire me to tidy up the tip I call a workshop.
I have no excuse for getting it wrong, atached, is a photograph of the on site research that took place 35 summers ago, and also, a close up of the missing finial. Is a 7mm version available?

A busy evening with both visitors (modellers of Japanese railways in N Gauge by all acounts) and home baked offerings (fruit cake and chocolate cookies) to deal with.

However Tappa's van body is looking a lot more together.........

.............and my efforts at mking the sleepers look more like worn wood and less like Peco plastic finally appears to be getting somewhere.......

The weeds will be taking over next week!

Oh yes and now you can see just how well equiped our workshop can be..............as Broadsword demonstrates.......

Don't you remember than TV advert, two dogs talking and one's says "I can't see that" and the other replys, "Get your hair cut then!":p
Even after three days that beer (Wold Breweries) was good, both I and the slugs liked it!;)

Ideal detail to be added to the street at the frontage as you say - one for Tappa and his plasticard perhaps.

Definatly the kind of local detail we want to portray as it will be readily identifiable for the local audience as a cream phone box (sorry in local parlance that should be 'fern box')

Here is a close up of the Springhead "Stop Board", I'm sure there is someone reading this, and who is clever enough to do the computer artwork. The original would be white letters on a "Signal Red" background, but by 1967 a lot of fadeing etc. I can just about manage black on white, or "Flip", but that is it.

Could give me a clue as to what size the board was and then I could work out what size the letters would be.
Until then here's my best guess.

Ta ever so.

Broadsword, many thanks, I will work out the size of the notice board after I complete the model. I can't give actial dimensions, by the time I measured the signal, the board had long gone.

Ta ever so.

Presumably the lamp and post in Mikes picture have known sizing and thus might be a clue for an approximate sizing.

Mind the font used looks smaller and squarer than you have used on your initial experimentation (presumably one of the railway ones) and of course the sign is in a rectangular and includes the much larger wording 'STOP' as a header.

I can easily work out the proportions of the signboard, but I will first complete the model. If it looks right, it is right.
