Looking very smart there Dave, far better than the real things looked in BR days. Weathering would involve removing paint down to something grey (wood preservative?) on some raised panelling and a totally matt finish overall.

Re the bogie stepboards, the two support legs went behind the bogie with the step immediately below the axlebox. That said, I see you have fitted 8' Deepframe bogies. They should be the later Bulbiron type with flange top and bottom.

I do like those LNWR 'L' shjape grab handles. Are they commercially available or part of the kit? I should know the answer to this seeing as Adrian R. produced the original kit.

LNWR 8' Bulbiron bogie :-

Bogie stepboards were fitted both ends. This was the 'trial etch' 4mm model using Dave Gillett bogie castings. Note the guard irons at the driving end....

Hi Larry,

The bogies are as supplied in the kit, I wonder who does the Bulbiron bogies in 7mm? Maybe Sidelines?

The 'L' shaped grab handles were on the etches, I need one more myself as one went into the deep abyss of the garage floor!!!

My final ride on the Oldham-Delph service occurred just before closure and it was most probably in M 3407 M seeing as it was in use most of the time in the line's final days.

On one of my early 1950's trips to Delph the train wasn't a push-pull set and unusually had an LNWR corridor coach in it. Somehow or other I climbed up to peer through the brake end windows to look down on the bunker of a Fowler Class 3 2-6-2T. The guard was obviously not around ha ha. Mostly I only went as far as Greenfield.....There were now't at Delph.

Not had a lot of time for things lately, but making some progress.........

Heljan Class 37/4, Finished as 37412 in Railfreight Distribution Sector Livery as she was whilst working the China Clay trains. I've added the extra WR lamp iron at each end next to the headcode box.
She is also fitted with a Zimo MX696KS loaded with a Paul Chetter Activedrive sound project. I've fitted two 3w 4ohm speakers wired in series inside the fuel tanks. The fuel tanks are sealed and a short 4mm diameter pipe utilised as a reflex tube.
I've weathered this as an 'In Use' locomotive for a customer and will be on its way home later this week.
Here are a few pictures:

I'm also doing her sister 413 in the same livery and same condition.

Got any pictures of your model of 37142, rather than the real thing?

Seriously though, that's one of the best weathering jobs I've ever seen!

Well here is another StBlazey loco, the sister to the one above, 37413 in the same livery, but with the bigger sector branding again by Railtec, etched nameplates and weathered within an inch of its life again!!!

Usual excellent weathering. I photographed 37413 in North Wales and grabbed a diary for a leeksee. There on the first page was 37413 "The Scottish Railway Preservation Society" at Abergele on the 08.36 Holyhead-Birmingham, 20th May 1999.
