Has the sheen of a prototype in that used but clean condition, and the cab interior looks so realistic that I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that it possesses the aromas of the real thing.

Hello - that's very nice indeed (and I've always liked the 'Shirtbutton' roundel, so it's nice to see a model so-adorned). For a relatively recent ex-works loco, I think that looks about right, though I wonder whether the coal space and toolboxes are a bit clean - I can't believe any crew would bother to polish the tops, sides and backs of these! Did the GWR varnish their cab floors? If not they might be greyer but with a crew in place would that be noticeable? Not sure.

Anyhow, I'll be at Scalefour on Saturday so I'll look out for it!

Thanks for your comments Adam. I must admit Dan Randall also mentioned the toolboxes so they will be weathered before scalefour. As far as I am aware the cab floors were varnished (got this info from ex western fireman). The colour always came back when slacking the cab with the pep pipe (i use to be a fireman on the SVR) from drab grey black. One thing I must try and make before Saturday is the wooden battern that went across the coal space.

Thanks Pete, we don't get nearly enough wagons on this forum ;)

So a plastic (Slaters?) mineral, Geen (?) loco coal and Bachmann RCH 1923 type with the coke rails? Is that a Masokits subframe between them?

Correct on all accounts Adam. In future I will just replace the wheelsets on the bachmann wagons (lifes too short). Other parts used are masokits V hangers, ABS brakes with brake safety loops fitted and Ambis brake levers. I found the David Geen brakes badly cast so fitted ABS replacements. I must admit I do like the masokits sprung units they are easy to make and work very well. After a stint of wagon building I will start to make a train of brown stock (siphon Cs,Bloaters etc) as got a Hall partially built which would be ideal to haul it.

Due to one of my sons best friends (we had known him since he was 6 years old) coming to a tragic end in Bath I feel at the moment my mojo has gone as far as modelling is concerned at the moment so at present I will not be posting anything more in the near future.

Regards
Pete
