Prototype Blue Diesels in South Yorkshire

I found these pictures hidden away in my files the other day. I regret that other than the locations no other details were saved.

The first picture is at Sheffield Midlland - my wife always wanted to be an engine driver ..............!img021.jpg
The next three pictures are at Doncaster:-

Deltics were just being down graded to secondary duties, HST's having taken over the principle express services - which should give an approximate idea of the date

40092 on tankers:img024.jpg

A pair of 37's also on tankersimg025.jpg

That's all folks - hope they may be of interest.

Roger.

Definitely!!
The photo of the Peak reminds me of trying to modify the nose of my Mainline Peak (the original 45 039 Manchester Regiment model) to match that simpler face, uncluttered by headcode boxes etc. Of course the buffer beam also needed removing from the body. I think I used a Westwards kit to detail the bogie fronts.

Deltic in second picture is likely to be 55 010 ‘King’s Own Scottish Borderer’ given it seems to be missing the nameplate - 1980 or 1981. (55 010 lost one plate at end of 1979)

Yes I reckon you're right, my first thought was it was 'number 10' too.

The recently refurbished Class 50 (50 0*2, I make it?) might also help with a date....?

On your marks, set, go! I wonder who'll get there first!

Thanks for all you comments and observations, gents. The 50 on the works siding was awaiting release and subsequently would have worked back down through Sheffield and Derby to the WR. I am pleased that these old pictures seem to have provided some interest and pleasure.

Roger (Nearly 83 and self-isolated in accordance with Government instructions!!) ;)

Well spotted on the "2"

This would probably be 50012 Benbow, on the 12 May 81 it worked back west on the Edinburgh Plymouth.
