7mm GWR (?) 15XX kit build

Whilst attaching the last of he body detail to the 15XX I realised that I was missing a casting for the tank front support bracket. Initially Warren thought that it could take up to 8 weeks to get a replacement but lady luck was smiling on me and he managed to find a casting which arrived yesterday so I can now get the 15XX ready for painting but in the meantime I put together a Eric Underhill LNWR 'Special Tank' 0-6-0st. It appeared to have languished in its box for a number of years as the etches had started to go green and a couple of the resin castings had taken on some weird shapes! Judicious use of the hairdryer and finger tweaking eventually got them back into somewhere near the correct shape and a bit of elbow grease on the etches with a jewelers block soon got them shiny again An awful lot of glue involved in the building of his though!

Merry Christmas

Ready for the varnish shop? Eh! not quite. After posting the photos on the GOG facebook site I had two very helpful replies. First it was pointed out that the 15xx did not have a lip to the front of the chimney, so that had to come off and the LNWR only painted the front buffer plank red, the buffer housings were black, as was the whole of the rear buffer beam so both engines required a short remedial trip back to the paint shop. Isn't this tinternet wonderful?

Sandy, the rear buffer beams of LNWR tank engines were red the same as the front. Black edge and the usual inner rectangle with rounded corners.

Larry, I knew that, but I was led down a garden path by a number of photos of a model on the site with a rear black buffer beam. Out with the pink and red tomorrow then!!!!
Thanks

Just caught up with 1501. It's looking very nice too. I felt the same way with my 1500, Warren's kit is very detailed with a box full of castings that do go on and on.
