We didn't get much of a write up in the Guild Gazette after our Telford appearance, just a couple of tiny photos, so I was amused when my latest copy of the Australian 0 Gauge magazine, 7th Heaven, arrived this week to see we fared rather better in their report.

The bridge at the country end of the layout (see the front of the picture above) is currently a half relief model, a throwback to the layout's days in Peter Hunt's shop. The side facing the station was beautifully made by Peter using his favourite material MDF and covered in embossed brick plastic sheet by Southeastern Finecast. It was painted by Peter Insole.

In its current situation this is rather incongruous and we have been intending for some time to build a full width replacement. This will again be in MDF but with the brick courses engraved on the laser cutter. This is a different technique to what we have used before and it does take rather a long time. Each of the long panels in the picture below took 68 minutes!

A close up of the engraved bricks and arches.

And it all looks a lot bigger

The walls at the top will be added separately. I have been experimenting with building up these panelled walls in layers. The plinth bricks will be machined and slotted into holes in these walls.

Most weeks bring something new. This time we got the first chance to see Bob Godden's second J15, seen here double heading with his other loco of the same class. That now means there are 3 available for work on the layout as Peter Cavalier, the layout's originator, had one built for him by Colin Dowling (eastsidepilot of this parish)
