I came across your layout while cruising around youtube the other day, great stuff

We've (hopefully) got a pretty hot weekend ahead, do you have any problems with the rails expanding with the heat?

What a great advertisement for garden railways that is:thumbs:

Next best thing to a time machine I reckon, even with no scenery and the rest of "reality" in the background, the sense of space and the natural light give it a life that indoor models struggle to convey.

And now I've got van envy, you're even worse than that Dyson bloke:))

I've just stuck my van doors together and added 6 bolt heads to the end strapping, one very small step towards more vans:rolleyes:

That's just a fabulous video:bowdown:

I enjoyed that.

One question, though. The brake tender was presumably on its way to the depot, as it would surely have been superfluous with that many fitted vans at the head of the train.

And two brake vans at the end. :)

31 wagons on the train and was it heavy, the poor old 31 had no trouble though. The consist was basically the Bescot-Toton trip it allways included a brake tender back to TO and any spare brake vans for the east midlands coal workings. The only bit of Modellers licence was the use of the 31 it was normally a Peak. I wanted to see if the 31 could pull it.

Quite unlike the real thing!

Cracking video, btw. Loved the light engines.

No not really you add expansion joint in as you go around. There is a tendency for these to creep and before you start to run you need to check these as some quite large gaps and heat related kinks can appear

Nice. I always like to see trains based on real workings.
Aye: just as important, if not more so, as getting the details spot-on.

One thing, Mr. P, the gaps in the pcb timbers catch the light, and spoil the illusion. Any plans to fill them?
(Sorry - pet hate, as it is so easy to do. Fencehouses in MRJ was ruined for me this "feature".)
