Hi Listmates

Does anyone have any idea whether this book has anything to offer for USD 28+?

Title: USATC S160 Class
ISBN: 9785511824499
Format: Paperback
Description: High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The United States Army Transportation Corps S160 Class is a class of 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive designed for use in Europe during World War II for heavy freight work. A total of 2,120 were built and they worked on railroads across the world, including Africa, Asia, all of Europe and South America.

It sounds like an assembly job, but I'm open to correction.

Yep - looks like info from Wiki printed out in book form, see what wiki says about the S160s and you should get a fair idea of content. I'd be wary.

That's the first time I've seen 'high quality content' and 'Wikipedia' in the same sentence :D

You may as well do a web search on USATC S160, copy and paste what you find into a word document and spend the $28 on something more useful.

Martin,
There is an S160 article in BRILL magazine, vol.4 Feb '95.
If I've got it I can scan it for you.

Col.

Hi Col

Yes, please, I'd welcome a scan if you can find it. I've managed to put together quite a lot of pictorial S160 stuff, culled from all over the place. However, I'm unsure how to make it available if anyone wants it.

Cheers

Hi Martin

Attached is a photograph taken by my father during the war. The buildings behind (where as a teenager I used to see the Rolling Stones at the Ealing Club when they were starting out) are on the road bridge to the West of Ealing Broadway station on the main line out of Paddington.

Sorry, I think I was having a 'moment', I know one of the mags did, but now think it was probably Continental Modeller. Goodness knows when though.

That's a brilliant picture with all the S160's awaiting shipping!

I'd rather like a super high res version of that..

I'm sure I have a couple of shots of the S160 that was on a few years back at the Nene Valley.. The whistle was errrr.... LOUD!!

Hi CC

Who is the supplier/what brand are these trucks? Source?

Flickr is a good source of S160 photos for those interested.
